GIPPSLAND ENGAGED MENTORING

WHAT IS Gippsland Engaged Mentoring ?

The Gippsland Engaged Mentoring program provides an opportunity for young people who may be ‘at risk’ of disengagement from school or their community to be paired with a local volunteer from East Gippsland locations such as Orbost, Lakes Entrance, Swifts Creek and Bairnsdale. The mentors are matched with a mentee and they provide support and conversation for one hour per week.

HOW WE HELP

The aim of the GEM program is to:

  • Increase self-esteem and confidence
  • Improve relationships with peers and family
  • Reduce feelings of isolation and support a sense of belonging
  • Promote connection within local communities
  • Improve school retention and attendance.
