Workways & Sale Gardens Open Doors to Employment

At Workways, we’re committed to connecting jobseekers from all walks of life – particularly those facing barriers to employment – with real opportunities for growth, skills development, and meaningful work. One of the ways we do this is through partnerships with local employers, such as Sale Gardens Care Community, an aged care provider that shares our belief in creating inclusive and supportive workplaces.

Together, Workways and Sale Gardens are helping to break down barriers and build brighter futures for Gippsland jobseekers.

Last year, six jobseekers were placed at Sale Gardens through our partnership. Four joined the team as General Services Officers (GSOs), and two began roles as Personal Care Assistants. For many, this is their first step into long-term, stable employment, and just the beginning of a new career path. One of the new GSOs is now completing a Certificate III in Individual Support, and another has already started a traineeship to become a qualified Personal Care Assistant.

“Coming to Sale Gardens has opened up so many opportunities for me,” says Connor, who now works as a General Services Officer. “I love spending time with residents and making people smile. I’ve gained so much confidence, and having stable employment meant I was able to buy my first car!”

The impact of this partnership goes well beyond job placements. Sale Gardens’ leadership team actively supports Workways jobseekers with employability skills, offering mock interviews, coaching, and feedback to help them prepare for a range of job opportunities. Their General Manager and Wellbeing Manager regularly volunteer their time to help jobseekers build confidence, understand interview expectations, and present their strengths.

Sale Gardens also provides opportunities for Workways jobseekers to spend a day at their Care Community and experience life in a caring workplace. For jobseekers who’ve never worked before, this gives them real-life insight into what it’s like to be part of a professional team in a caring workplace, often sparking newfound confidence and ambition.

This collaboration is just one example of Workways  partnering with employers, to achieve meaningful outcomes for both jobseekers and employers.
