Expanding Our Impact: Bringing Inclusive Employment Australia to Cairns

We’re excited to share some major news: Workways Australia has been selected to deliver the new Inclusive Employment Australia (IEA) program across the Cairns region, marking our expansion into Far North Queensland.

Starting 1 November 2025, we’ll be supporting people with disability, injury or health conditions from our offices in Cairns and Innisfail, with outreach services extending to Port Douglas and Tully. This expansion builds on our 35 years of experience delivering employment and community services across eastern Australia. We’re ready to make a real difference in Far North Queensland.

Inclusive Employment Australia represents a significant shift from traditional disability employment services. Instead of fitting people into existing programs, this new approach puts choice and control firmly in the hands of jobseekers while creating stronger partnerships with local employers.

Building on Proven Experience and Co-Design Expertise

From our offices across South East Queensland and Gippsland, where we currently deliver Workforce Australia, Transition to Work programs, we’ve learned what works. Sustainable employment isn’t just about job placement. It’s about understanding individual goals, building genuine employer partnerships, and creating support that adapts to people’s changing needs. When you start with someone’s strengths and aspirations rather than their challenges, and when jobseekers and employers actively shape the support they receive, remarkable outcomes follow. We’re ready to work with the Far North Queensland community to achieve the same success.

Our previous experience delivering employment services in the Cairns region has given us valuable insights into the local employment landscape and the unique opportunities and challenges in Far North Queensland. This local knowledge, combined with our proven co-design expertise, means we understand what it takes to deliver transformative outcomes for both people with disabilities and employers in the Cairns region.

Creating Real Impact in Far North Queensland

Inclusive Employment Australia in Cairns will emphasise genuine collaboration with regional businesses, training providers, and community organisations. Our partnership with the Centre of Inclusive Employment ensures we’re using evidence-based practices that deliver sustainable employment pathways for everyone.

We’re not just opening offices. We’re investing in the community and demonstrating that when you put people at the centre of employment support, everyone benefits. The program’s person-centred approach means tailored support for each individual’s circumstances and goals, whether that’s career planning, skills development, workplace accommodations, or ongoing career advancement. For jobseekers with disabilities, injuries, or health conditions, this means employment support that respects your choices and builds on your strengths. For employers, it means access to diverse talent and practical support to create inclusive workplaces.

Ready for What’s Next

Our team is already connecting with stakeholders across the region. Our service delivery is designed to be flexible and responsive to the needs of the Cairns community. The conversations are starting, partnerships are forming, and we’re ready to work with the Far North Queensland community to make Inclusive Employment Australia a success.
