jobactive: Workways delivers the new Federal Government Employment Services contract as a subcontractor to CoAct. We will provide supports to approximately 5,000 job seekers each year. jobactive helps both employers and job seekers. At no cost to you, we can find the right staff for your business – or, if you’re looking for work, we can find jobs that are a good fit for you. Disability Employment Service: Workways delivers the Disability Employment Service to over 1200 participants as a subcontractor to CoAct in Mt Isa, Townsville, the Gold Coast, Northern NSW and the ACT. Disability Employment Services providers offer a range of services to support your individual needs, including:
- help to prepare for work, including training in specific job skills
- job search support, such as résumé development, training in interview skills, and help in looking for suitable jobs
- support when initially placed into a job, including on the job training and coworker and employer support
- ongoing support in a job if required
- the purchase of vocational training and other employment-related assistance
- access to help with workplace modifications, support services, and Auslan interpreting in the workplace.
Work for the Dole: Workways delivers Work for the Dole as a subcontractor to CoAct in the Townsville and Cairns employment areas. We also work closely with providers of jobactive in regional Victoria and Northern NSW to subcontract the delivery of this program in these areas. Work for the Dole places job seekers in activities where they can gain skills and experience that give back to the community and can help them find a job. Transition to Work: This employment service provides intensive support to young people aged 16 to 21 who require assistance to prepare for, find and keep a job. The service provides case management support alongside practical employability and practical industry training, to ensure that young people have everything they need to successfully transition into employment. Workways delivers this service in Mount Isa, Aitkenvale and Charters Towers in the Townsville region in Queensland; and in Moe, Traralgon, Morwell, Leongatha and Warragul in the Gippsland region in Victoria in partnership with Berry Street. ParentsNext: This employment support service provides young parents who are looking to return or enter into the work force with career planning, employability skills training and job search support. This service provides case management alongside work preparation training, with the aim of assisting young parents to be ready for work by the time their youngest child starts school. Workways delivers this service in Logan in Queensland. For more information about this service contact our team.
Smart, Skilled and Hired: Workways delivers Smart, Skilled and Hired as a subcontractor to CoAct in the Lismore and Tweed regions of NSW. Smart, Skilled and Hired is a NSW Government funded Youth Employment Program focused on participants aged between 15 and 24, who are not currently on Commonwealth Income Support or registered in a Commonwealth or NSW Government funded Employment Services Program (eg jobactive, Disability Employment Services, Transition to Work). The program acknowledges that in some cases participants may need to complete education or training prior to being able to secure employment, and is also committed to supporting young people to develop effective pathways into employment. We provide dedicated one-on-one Youth Case Manager support that connects young people aged 15-24 with employers and high-quality pre-employment training opportunities.Our Smart, Skilled and Hired Youth Employment service focuses on practical intervention and support for youth so that they bring skills, confidence and job readiness to their new employer.For more information about this service contact our team.
Jobs Victoria Employment Network (JVEN): The Jobs Victoria Employment Network (JVEN) is the Victorian Government’s major activity to help Victorian jobseekers gain employment. JVEN services are delivered by specialist employment experts such as Workways Australia, who work closely with employers to identify job opportunities and prepare job seekers for those roles. In Gippsland, the JVEN program is focused on the delivery of services to assist people with a disability to transition into employment. In the Melbourne region, the JVEN program focuses on the delivery of assistance to people who have returned to the community from detention, or those at risk of detention to transition into employment. The Worker Transition Service: Funded by the Victorian Government, this program aims to assist specialist employment experts such as Workways Australia to provide direct assistance to workers and their family members, contractors or any supply chain employees affected by the closure of Hazelwood Power Station. These job seekers will have access to a suite of personal, financial and employment services through the Worker Transition Services (WTS) which is a partnership between the Latrobe Valley Authority (LVA) and the Gippsland Trades and Labour Council (GTLC). The program is delivered out of the Latrobe Valley Authority and the Workways office in George Street, Morewell. Springboard: The Springboard program funded by the Victorian Department of Human Services delivers intensive pre-employment and educational support to disengaged young people across East Gippsland, the Latrobe Valley and the Goulburn Murray regions. The program assists young people aged 16 to 21 on Victorian Custody or Guardianship orders who are in residential out-of-home care, or who have recently left care. Workways supports young people with education, training and/or employment and by linking them with other local service providers to assist them to successfully transition into employment. Gippsland East Mentoring (GEM): Workways will directly deliver the Gippsland East Mentoring program contract in Bairnsdale, Orbost and Lakes Entrance; and will now see this program grow to Mallacoota and Omeo. The Gippsland East Youth Mentoring Program is about engaging young people at the secondary school level who are at risk of leaving school early. We provide mentors on a one on one basis who will became a friend to a young person to help them with career choices, further education and to enjoy other fun activities like crafts, sports and life experiences. Once a friendship is formed the student and mentor can continue to work together to work through and overcome life’s challenges. EnviTE Environment: Workways offers commercial environmental services to businesses requiring bush restoration services, land and road development contractors, parks and green space planning and development contractors, environmental plans, forestry and green corridor restoration contractors, landscaping and sustainability planning and development contractors. Green Army: Workways delivers a range of Green Army projects through our EnviTE Environment division in Northern NSW and in regional Victoria. The Green Army is an exciting voluntary programme for 17-24 year olds interested in protecting their local environment. The Green Army provides young people with skills, training and experience to improve their future career prospects while participating in projects that generate real and lasting benefits for the environment. Most of all its a lot of fun. You can apply if you are aged between 17-24 years and an Australian citizen or permanent resident. You may be a school leaver, gap year student, graduate, Indigenous person, an unemployed job seeker and/or a person with a disability. Other Environmental projects: EnviTE Environment implements a diverse range of projects related to biodiversity conservation and ecological restoration. This includes environmental grants, fee for service contracts, Green Army projects and others.
We work in partnership with private and public land holders, Landcare and community groups, local councils, Indigenous organisations and developers. EnviTE Environment has a combination of high level technical expertise and practical ecological restoration skills and experience developed over more than 20 years. As an organisation, Workways works with businesses and industry groups to develop immediate and long term workforce solutions.
