Training Options

Workways is committed to providing excellence in training that meets the needs of our Community. 


Our focus is on providing Nationally Recognised Training that will enhance a jobseeker’s potential for personal development and employment advancement. Workways has been committed to this since its conception as Skillshare (1989) and later Bairnsdale Training for Employment Inc. (1990). 

Workways is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), and has a number of courses available:

  • CHC30402                  Certificate III in Children’s Services
  • CHC30802                  Certificate III in Community Services Work
  • CHC40502                  Certificate IV in Employment Services
  • CHC50402                  Diploma of Employment Services
  • PRM10104                  Certificate I in Asset Maintenance (Cleaning operations)
  • PRM20104                  Certificate II in Asset Maintenance (Cleaning operations)
  • WRR10102                 Certificate I in Retail Operations
  • WRR20102                 Certificate II in Retail Operations
  • WRR30202                 Certificate III in Retail Operations
Currently some vacancies are available in the Community Services Work and Childcare courses. These courses are being offered in Orbost, Swifts Creek, Bairnsdale & Lakes Entrance.

 

Anyone is welcome to apply for courses offered by Workways as listed above.

 

Provision of Vocational Educational Training (V.E.T.)

  • Complete an enrolment form with Workways
  • Apply direct to Workways or via another participating educational institution (ie. Secondary College)
  • If you are already enrolled in an educational institution you  will need to register your enrolment with that educational institution
  • Commence your training in a nationally recognised training program any time during a calendar school year.
  • If unable to commence at the nominated start of a calendar school year you can negotiate start dates with the Training Coordinator at Workways
  • You will  receive a Certificate/Statement of Attainment at the end of each calendar school year to identify your  status in the registered training program
  • You  are not restricted to completing training within the prescribed time frames.

In-House Training Programs

In-House training refers to either:
(a)  Training developed by the staff of Workways
(b)  Training organised by Workways for delivery to clients
In-house training  is usually developed and offered to the ‘principal’ jobseekers of Workways.  Principal jobseekers and participants are Intensive Assistant clients who have been referred to Workways by Centrelink to assist in securing employment.  Principal clients reflect Workways key contractual obligations.  
  • In-House training is firstly offered to Workways Intensive Assistant jobseekers
  • Advertising to the community is an option exercised to other potential participants or clients
There are questions and answers that need to be covered but these courses offer a great opportunity to focus in on getting you job ready.
